Rebuild vs. replace
A lot of shops quote you a "transmission job" and drop in a used unit out of a wrecked truck. You're buying somebody else's wear with no idea how many miles are on it.
A rebuild is different. We pull your unit, take it apart completely, and clean and inspect every piece. Clutches, seals, gaskets, bands, filters and any worn hard parts get replaced. It goes back together to spec, back in the truck, and out on a road test before you get the keys.
It costs more up front than a junkyard swap and it lasts a lot longer. That's the whole trade.
Coverage
Ford, Chevy and Ram are our focus. These are the units we see most — if yours isn't listed, call and ask.
Symptoms
Most transmissions give warning for weeks before they quit. Caught early, it's often a solenoid, a sensor or a fluid problem instead of a full rebuild.
Our process
Give us the year, make, model and symptoms. We'll give you a realistic range before you commit to anything.
Drive it in if it's safe. If it isn't, towing is free within 15 miles when we do the major work.
Codes, fluid condition, line pressure and a road test where possible. We rule out the cheap fixes first.
You approve the price before any work starts. If teardown turns up something extra, you get a call — not a surprise on the invoice.
Complete disassembly, cleaning and inspection. Clutches, seals, gaskets, bands, filter and worn hard parts replaced, then reassembled to spec.
Back in the vehicle, fluid filled, shift quality verified on the road before we hand you the keys.
Parts and labor. If something isn't right, bring it back to us.
Pricing
Where your job lands depends on the unit, the vehicle and what teardown turns up. A 4L60E in a half-ton is not the same job as an Allison behind a Duramax, and we're not going to pretend it is.
Call or email with your year, make, model and what it's doing, and we'll give you a real number.
Terms, plainly
Cores and cases
Twenty years of Ford, Chevy and Ram work means we're not starting from scratch every time a truck comes in.
Questions
Rebuilds start at $1,400. The final number depends on the unit, the vehicle and what we find once it's apart. Call or email your year, make and model and we'll quote it.
Yes. We pull codes, check fluid and pressures and road test it if it's driveable, at no charge. You'll know what you're dealing with before you spend anything.
It depends on the unit and parts availability. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we quote the job, and we'll tell you if it's a work truck priority. Call for current turnaround.
Towing is free within 15 miles of the shop when we do the major work on the vehicle. Outside that radius, call us and we'll work something out.
Six months on parts and labor for the rebuild we performed. Bring it back to us and we'll take care of it.
We rebuild in-house. Your unit comes out, gets torn down, cleaned, inspected and reassembled with new wear parts. We're not putting a junkyard transmission in your truck.
Those are our focus and where our experience is deepest, but we take other makes case by case. Call and ask — we'll tell you honestly if it's a job for us.
We can give you a range over the phone from the year, make, model and symptoms. The firm number comes after the free diagnostic.
